Newborn child in controlled environment being monitored on aircraft by VitalOne staff

A 2-day-old newborn was born with a rare, life-threatening condition called a persistent cloaca, in which the baby is born without an opening to allow the bodily wastes to be eliminated. This condition requires emergency surgery to save the child’s life.

VitalOne is experienced in NICU transfers, but each situation calls for a unique team of medical professionals to accompany each baby on their perilous trip.

Rabbi Leider arranged for the precious newborn to be transferred to the world famous Colorectal Center in Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, which has the only comprehensive program of its kind in the world. The center is led by internationally renowned experts Dr Alberto Pena and Dr Marc A. Levitt. By arranging this timely transfer, the baby can now look forward to long-term health.
